Privacy notice

Who is responsible

Ian Rendall trading as The Edge is responsible for the personal information handled through this website. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, email reg@the-edge.ai.

Optional website analytics

Google Analytics is optional and is used only after you accept analytics. It helps us understand visits, marketing campaign sources and website actions, including confirmed enquiry handoffs. It can process browser/device information, approximate location, timestamps, page information, campaign identifiers and pseudonymous cookie identifiers. This is not anonymous information.

Our analytics events do not intentionally include names, email addresses, phone numbers, conversation text, questionnaire answers or the business website you enter. We restrict page addresses and campaign fields before sending them. Google also processes information associated with the network request under its service terms. See Google's privacy policy and Google's data processing terms.

Consent is the basis for this optional analytics processing. We do not enable Google Ads collection, remarketing, advertising personalization or enhanced conversions through this measurement setup. Choosing analytics does not activate our existing Google Ads tag.

You can reject analytics and continue using the website. Use Privacy settings to change your choice. Withdrawal stops future analytics and removes this setup's analytics cookies; it does not automatically erase information already held by Google.

Analytics, optional REG saving and questionnaire storage are separate. Rejecting analytics does not delete your REG chat or questionnaire draft, or choose whether your REG chat is saved.

GA4 event/user-level retention is configured for two months, without resetting the user retention period on new activity. Standard aggregated reports are not subject to that same two-month setting.

International processing and your rights

Google may process analytics information outside the UK. Google's linked data processing terms describe its international transfer arrangements, including contractual safeguards where applicable. Contact us for information about those safeguards.

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict your personal information, object to processing, or receive a portable copy. You can withdraw consent without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. Contact reg@the-edge.ai. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

REG chats and optional saved history

You can chat with REG without switching on saved chat history. Messages are still sent to our hosting and AI providers so REG can respond, and your existing browser chat copy is separate from the private dashboard.

If you choose Save chat history in Chat settings, we use edge_reg_record to link new standard-chat messages to the saved conversation. This cookie is restricted to /Reg, Secure and HttpOnly, and expires after 55 minutes without renewal from ordinary activity. Saving starts only after your choice is acknowledged; it does not import earlier browser history. The saving switch starts off on a newly loaded page.

You consent to that optional recording cookie through the switch. Turn the switch off to stop new saving and request removal of the cookie. This does not prevent normal chat or requested handoffs, or automatically delete earlier saved messages. If the request fails, new messages remain excluded from saving and the existing cookie expires on its fixed schedule.

Ian Rendall trading as The Edge uses saved enquiry messages, their order and dates, and confirmed handoff outcomes for enquiry handling and service-quality review under the approved legitimate-interests assessment. This service does not use saved chats for model training and does not record the separate questionnaire flow. Please avoid sharing unnecessary information.

Saved detailed history expires after 30 days; later activity does not extend it. Separate conversation and completed-handoff counts expire after 13 calendar months. Counts do not represent sales. Authorised REG users can view retained history privately. You can download the transcript available in the chat window.

If an authorised user sends a selected chat for review, its transcript and comments become a separate email copy sent to reg@the-edge.ai. Ian manages these copies manually. Dashboard expiry does not automatically delete mailbox copies or hosting-provider backups. Genuine ongoing enquiries remain subject to their separate enquiry-handling policy.

Namecheap provides hosting and enquiry email; OpenAI provides REG's AI responses. These providers may process information outside the UK. Application expiry does not establish erasure from provider recovery copies or logs. Contact us for provider, safeguard and retention information, or to request access, correction or deletion, or object to the legitimate-interests processing.

Private dashboard sign-in

Dashboard accounts are restricted to authorised clients and their assigned data. Without Remember me, the sign-in session has a 30-minute idle limit and an eight-hour maximum. If you choose Remember me, it may last up to 90 days from sign-in; later activity does not renew that absolute limit. Sign out on a shared device. These sign-in controls are separate from optional website analytics and REG saving.
